We are looking to add to our ever growing professional team. The successful candidate will have a relevant trade qualification and at least 2 years post qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have a background within a manufacturing/industrial business, preferably within the food or packaging industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of the plant and equipment to optimum performance.
- Be familiar with the daily production plan and work as part of the team.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager with the implementation of preventative maintenance programmes for all machines.
- Assist with the continuous monitoring of all machinery and equipment within the plant.
- Ensure real time repair of machines and equipment to get them back up & running within optimum time frame.
- Perform all pre start, hygiene and safety checks as necessary.
- Report all faults, damages or electrical or mechanical defaults to the Line Supervisor, ensuring all machinery is only used when it is safe to use. Record checks as and when directed.
- Keep breakdowns to a minimum and increase machine availability through continuous improvement.
- Document all aspects of maintenance work carried out and keep management informed of potential issues.
- Adhere to company safety policies at all times.
- Experience with electrical panels and fault finding is a must.

Job Vacancy: Lairage Operator and Carcass Grading
Duties:
- Safeguard the wellbeing of livestock
- Identify grade & isolate grade C, sick or injured animals or cattle not likely to pass post mortem inspection.
- Keep the abattoir serviced with livestock, and enough feed for same. Move livestock to secure holding pens causing minimal stress
- Ensure cards are entered correctly & in a timely manner that does not cause delays in production
- Keep the lairage facilities clean and tidy
- Ensure Management of farmers in lairage to ensure they respect site rules.
- Adhere to Company hygiene practices & animal welfare procedures
- Comply with health & safety rules, to prevent / minimise the risk of accidents
- Participate in training, in accordance with your personal training plan
- Carry out any additional duties that may be reasonably requested by the management
- Alerting abattoir Manager &/or Maintenance Manager of any maintenance issues within the lairage & ensuring they are rectified in a timely manner
- Grading carcass - Training provided
- Shift Pattern: 6am - 5pm Monday - Friday
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but full training will be given for inexperienced people keen to learn the trade
- Familiarity with AIMS and cattle intake systems and procedures for entering cards; common card entry issues and resolutions etc.
- Good attention to detail
- Able to use own initiative
- Good communication skills
- Self-motivated
- Able to work as part of a team
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience with livestock, desirable but not a requirement
- Certificate of competence certified, desirable but not a requirement
